Van Bommel Senna men's lace-up shoe in black, H-width (wide). This classic sneaker from the Van Bommel collection features a sturdy and durable rubber sole. To make the sole extra flexible, a small percentage of pure natural rubber has been added to the rubber. The upper is made of calf leather from a tannery in Montorso Vicentino, Vicenza, Italy. On the side of the shoe, the iconic copper "VB" is stamped into the leather near the top eyelet. The interior of the shoe is lined with top-quality calf leather. The sneaker features a leather-covered, removable footbed.

With the rise of the sneaker as a casual shoe, the shoe world and shoe design really took off. Or so you'd think. In our archives, we have hefty design books from our sculptors dating back to the early 20th century. Each book contains hundreds of design drawings for classic shoes. In the classic segment back then, there was almost as much variety and experimentation as there is now in sneakers. However, the range of variation was smaller, so more attention was paid to minimal details. The curve of the last, the size of the stitch on the edge of the sole, the sheen of the leather, the feel of the calf lining—mindful differences make or break a shoe.
