Product Overview
Woden stylish Scandinavian sneakers for women
Woden was founded in 2013 by Carsten Holm and stands for Works of Denmark. It is no surprise that the brand comes from Northern Europe because the shoes have a typical Scandinavian look. Woden's DNA includes fashion, functionality and anatomy. Something you will agree with when you have had a pair of Woden sneakers on your feet.
Out of respect for the environment, Woden has developed a vision on sustainability: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. An important example of this is the fish leather that Woden uses. Fish leather is a waste product from Icelandic fishing. Tanning fish leather is not new but an age-old Scandinavian tradition. The leather that Woden uses often comes from salmon and is strong and durable. Due to the cross-fiber structure, the leather is even nine times stronger than calfskin. Woden also carries out the tanning process in a sustainable manner. The leather is carefully treated and tanned in Iceland with natural heat sources, resulting in zero CO2 emissions.
Woden also replaces synthetic materials with recycled material as much as possible in other areas. For example, the lining consists of 50% recycled plastic bottles. Characteristic for Woden is the cork insole from Argentina and Portugal. To extract cork, cork trees do not need to be cut down and the bark can last hundreds of years. When the cork trees start to form new bark, they even convert carbon dioxide into oxygen.
