Taking care of my shoes...

When buying shoes, you don't immediately think about maintenance. If you want to last a long time with your shoes and ensure that your shoes or sneakers continue to look good, then you will find the ideal step-by-step plan for shoe care below.

How do you care for your shoes?

Shoe care consists of 3 steps: protect, care & clean. Repeat these steps periodically to keep your shoes looking nice.

Care also includes replacing a protective heel or (leather) soles. Resole your shoes on time!

For example, if you have a stitched sole, replace the sole before you damage the stitching and do not continue walking until the heel of your shoe wears off. Always choose a recognized professional shoemaker. Check out Shoemakers Guild for more information.

Shoe Care Step 1 - Protect
Protecting shoes prevents moisture and dirt from penetrating the material and keeps the color beautiful for longer. Protect your shoes with dirt and water-repellent spray such as Carbon Wax (for smooth and matte leather) or Carbon Pro (suitable for multiple materials). There is Lack Mousse especially for patent leather.

Protecting is done before first use, after regular wearing and always as the last step after caring or cleaning.

Tip! Never leave shoes to dry near a heater, direct heat dries out leather and causes cracks and cracks.

Use the spray with the 30x30x30 rule
30 cm distance while spraying.
30 minutes to dry after spraying.
30 days pass, then spray again.

Shoe Care Step 2 - Care

Caring for materials ensures flexibility, nutrition, color and prevents cracks or dull spots. Shoe care products contain nourishing substances that have a positive effect on the appearance and lifespan of the material.

Care for material with Collonil Waterstop Colorless Cream for neutral care. If you want to care for your shoes with a cream in the color of the material, bring your shoes to one of our stores or go to a professional shoemaker. You can then use your shoes to determine which color fits best so that your shoes do not completely discolour after care. Although it is always possible that there will be some color difference, whatever you experience while wearing it.

Shoe Care Step 3 - Cleaning

Despite good protection and care, stains can sometimes appear on your shoes. Use the correct cleaning agent and prevent the material from being damaged or losing color. Start with dry cleaning without liquid.

There are various brushes and blocks for dry cleaning, for example the Suede Nubuck Box to superficially clean and refresh suede or nubuck. After dry cleaning the shoe, choose another cleaning agent if necessary. Get advice in one of our stores or from a professional shoemaker for the right cleaning agent for your leather or suede shoes.
