Shoe care

Nolten Extra members always receive a 20% discount on shoe care.

Leather needs care and nutrition. It is therefore advisable to maintain shoes regularly so that the leather stays in good condition. With specific shoe care products, good maintenance is possible for different leathers. Shoe care products are limited available online. We offer a wider range of products in our stores with tailor-made advice. You can also visit a specialized shoemaker for advice and the right shoe care product.

General tips

1. Treat the leather before wearing it, this prevents unpleasant stains and protects the leather against moisture.
2. Repeat the treatment regularly, preferably weekly.
3. For any maintenance, brush any sand and dirt with a soft brush from the shoes.
4. Never let leather bags or shoes (with leather soles) dry near the heating when they have become wet. The leather tends to dry out and will become hard.

Maintenance of smooth leather

-Step-by-step-
1. Apply lotion thinly and evenly with a soft cloth.
2. Color the sides of the heel and the sole edges with an edge marker.
3. Apply the lotion thinly and evenly with a soft cloth (upper) and apply a brush (above the sole and heel edges).
4. Allow the lotion to retract until the leather feels smooth and dry, after which the shoe can be brushed with a polishing brush.
5. Apply lotion with a soft cloth, thin and equal.
6. Allow the lotion to retract until the leather is dull and has a uniform color, after which the shoe can be brushed with a polishing brush followed by a soft polishing cloth and for extra shine with a nylon stocking.

Maintenance of suede

-Step-by-step-
1. Treat the entire shoe with a silver sand block. Leave the loosened silver sand on the shoe.
2. Brush the entire shoe gently and lightly with the rubber side of the suede brush.
3. Spots that remain shiny can be gently roughened with the piece of natural rubber.
4. Carefully remove remaining dirt with the brass side of the suede brush.
5. Spray the shoe with, for example, suede spray (distance 10 cm) and brush the shoe immediately after injection to distribute the spray evenly.
6. Let the shoes dry well.
7. Color the sides of the heel and the sole edges with a lace marker and rub them with a polishing cloth.
8. Gently brush the shoes with the rubber side of the suede brush.

Maintenance of nubuck

-Step-by-step-
1. Treat the entire shoe with the silver sand block. Leave the loosened silver sand on the shoe.
2. Brush the entire shoe with a polishing brush.
3. Spray the shoe with nubuck spray (distance 10 cm).
4. Let the shoes dry well.
5. Gently brush the shoe afterwards with a polishing brush.
6. Color the sides of the heel and the sole edges with an edge marker and wipe them with a polishing cloth.

Maintenance of wax suede

-Step-by-step-
1. Treat the entire shoe with the silver sand block. Leave the loosened silver sand on the shoe.
2. Brush the entire shoe gently and lightly with the rubber side of the suede brush.
3. Spots that remain shiny can be gently roughened with the piece of natural rubber.
4. Carefully remove remaining dirt with the brass side of the suede brush.
5. Spray the shoe with suede spray (10 cm distance) and brush the shoe immediately after injection to distribute the spray evenly.
6. Let the shoes dry well.
7. Color the sides of the heel and the sole edges with a lace marker and rub them with a polishing cloth.
8. Gently brush the shoes with the rubber side of the suede brush.
9. Spray the shoes again with the spray, now volatile from 25 cm.
10. Please note: once the polishing brush has been used to brush oily shoe polish, the polishing brush can no longer be used for other materials. Because the greasy shoe polish leaves residues on the polishing brush, other materials can turn dark when used.
