Shoe Size Measurements

Time flies so fast. One moment your baby is still in your arms and before you know it your little one begins to discover the world while crawling or he or she takes the first shaky steps through the house. In each of these important phases the right shoes in the right size are an enormous stimulus in the development. But how do you measure the feet properly?

MEASURE BABY AND CHILDREN’S FEET

Babies grow very quickly in the first months, and so do their feet. It is important to monitor the growth so the feet have enough space and the shoes/slippers are not too tight. The first months, slippers are very suitable, even when crawling. Only when your child takes the first steps a sturdy sole becomes neccasary.

Even with older children, the feet can grow very quickly in a short period of time. We advise to measure the feet every 2 to 3 months.

How do you proceed?

Grab a pen or pencil, a ruler, and a sheet of paper. Follow the 3 steps and choose your size.

1. Place the paper against the wall and place the foot on a flat surface with the heel against the wall.
2. Mark the longest part of the foot, if necessary use a ruler for a straight line. Note: the big toe is not always the longest toe.
3. Repeat for the other foot. Assume the length of the largest foot.

TIPS FOR MEASURING BABY'S FEET

- It is important that your baby is upright. It is therefore more convenient to measure with two people. If one person holds the child, the other can hold the foot flat on the floor by hand and measure.
- Measure in the morning. Later in the day the feet expand which gives a distorted picture.

TIPS FOR MEASUREMENT OF KIDS FEET

- Add approximately one centimeter (minimum 0.8 cm to maximum 1.3 cm) of growing space to the measured foot.
- Test with your thumb whether your child has enough space in the new shoe. If you have an inch of space, then the size is right.
- From the age of 3, children's feet grow on average one size every six months, with a growth spurt this can be more.
- Measure in the morning. Later in the day the feet expand which gives a distorted picture.
- On the product page you will find a size recommendation with a size table in cm for almost all our articles.
