Floris van Bommel The Zaler low-top sneaker for men in green. The Zaler is a new sneaker from Floris van Bommel that fits perfectly with the flat sneaker trend. The shoe has a low-top honey-colored sole and a suede upper. Along the lace edge, the leather is finished with a stylish serrated edge.

In the design department, I work with two of the very best shoe designers. I fell into our family business 25 years ago and started doing this work then, while they consciously chose to become shoe designers from a young age. They fought very purposefully and with great drive to make a career as shoe designers. The man I create the men's collection with is the biggest shoe nerd I know. Like a shoe robot, he knows every shoe style ever made and, if so, also knows where they're derived from. For example, the sole of this shoe is his interpretation of a vintage indoor sports sole. He knows the entire history of this type of shoe, puts a twist on it, and designs the sleekest, original sneaker for it. I could never do that. My quality is a bit more, uh... low-key. I'm more of a person who doesn't think too much, just goes by feel, trying things out. The funny thing is that all that comes together on this shoe. My colleague had developed this style and on the He'd added a curved sporty line to the side for identification. That shape on the side comes from our own archives. I accidentally came up with that shape about 15 years ago while messing around with a sneaker we were developing. I didn't like it, cut off a piece, and glued it back together with glue stick, slightly distorted. We used that shape on our best sneakers for years. And now it's back... Vintage Floris van Bommel!
