In his painting lessons, Bob Ross often spoke of "happy accidents"—mistakes that unexpectedly turn out well. The design world is teeming with such lucky coincidences. In fact, there are countless products whose original ideas, designers would admit, were complete failures, but which ultimately became surprisingly successful. As a designer, you constantly encounter obstacles. Materials react differently than expected, the right tools are missing, time pressure plays a role, or production machines simply can't handle your design. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Why am I telling you this? Because this sneaker also has a happy accident! In the original 2D design, the teeth of the sole were evenly spaced, with the same spacing throughout. But when we turned that drawing into a 3D mold, the curvature of the sole suddenly created larger gaps at the front. We briefly hesitated: should we redo it? But actually, we liked it that way. That wider spacing gave the sole a sportier and slightly more casual look. So we left it as is. And who cares, after all, life is one big happy accident.
