Floris van Bommel The Loper 30248 men's lace-up shoe in dark cognac, H-width (wide). This full brogue model is made using the Goodyear method. This artisanal and labor-intensive shoemaking method involves building the sole piece by piece under the shoe without prefabricated materials. Shoes made with Goodyear are durable, have a waterproof bond between the sole and upper, are easy to repair, and above all, have a lot of character. In other words: Goodyear is the method a cobalt blue shoemaker chooses for their own dress shoes. The sole has a cobalt blue tread made of durable TPU. The shoe features a high-quality calf leather lining. This pair is made on an H-width last. Therefore, the shoe has a slightly wider fit and is also suitable for slightly wider feet. The calf leather is hand-dyed in our factory with a fine sponge and stain. The leather, seams, and stitching have an authentic hand-dyed look thanks to this labor-intensive treatment.

These shoes are made according to the Goodyear manufacturing method. It doesn't get more artisanal than this! Each component is custom-made by hand in our factory here in Moergestel. We use poetic jargon like 'flapping,' 'spandering,' 'edge licking,' 'searing,' and 'sloping.' It makes my shoemaker's heart beat faster. We've been making shoes this way for centuries. First completely by hand, and after the industrial revolution with the help of machines. At the end of the production process, the side of the sole is dyed with a brush dipped in a container of stain. No mess! That container of stain is, with a few walls in between, 30 meters from the desk where I'm typing this. Shoemaking...we love it here.
